CARE & MAINTENANCE

We care just as much as you do

Our range of sofas and armchairs are influenced by the iconic designs of the mid-century and classic pieces from celebrated designers, we also create our own designs in-house. We work with trusted craftsmen to ensure our furniture is both durable and timelessly stylish.

To ensure your sofa or armchair stays as charming as it was when you bought it we’ve put together these handy tips on how to best look after fabric, wood, and leather.

WOVEN FABRIC | VELVET | LEATHER | WOOD & VENEER | RUGS

Woven fabric

Grounded in a sense of touch, our sofas and armchairs are available in a wide selection of fabrics. Discover how to properly look after your upholstered seating below.

MAINTENANCE

Plump up your cushions to make sure they keep their shape.

CARE

For any dirty spots grab a clean damp cloth and spot the area with quick motions. This should get rid of most dirt and marks, however for a deep clean, use professional cleaning products by a certified company or if your furniture has removable covers, take it to the dry cleaner.

TO AVOID

Upholstered pieces can lighten over time if they’re exposed to direct sunlight. Think of it like suntanning, but in reverse.

Velvet

Velvet adds a bold and luxurious edge to any space, but the plush fabric needs a little love to ensure it keeps its soft texture and chic look.

MAINTENANCE

The pile of velvet may crush over time, using a clothes brush can help restore it to its natural state. When using a brush, always go in the direction of the pile. The texture of velvet may also change with use, as the pile is pressed. This is a natural process with velvet and is part of the charm of the fabric, but it doesn’t affect its durability.

CARE

Velvet is very sensitive to liquids so please try to keep it dry at all times. Professionally dry clean only.

TO AVOID

Liquids: Velvet should be kept dry at all times. Sunlight: Direct sunlight can fade velvet.

LEATHER

A luxurious choice, leather doesn’t need much maintenance but there are a few things you need to avoid to keep it soft for longer.

MAINTENANCE

Leather can be prone to drying out. Regular conditioning can keep this from happening, and stop cracks appearing. For more low-key maintenance, a regular wipe with a clean dry cloth will keep it looking its best.

CARE

- Wipe up spills immediately with a dry, soft cloth to absorb as much moisture as possible.
- Don’t rub. Wipe instead.
- Don’t use water.
- Don’t use chemical cleaning products.

TO AVOID

- Keep sharp objects away from the leather, and consider not wearing a belt when seated too, as these can cause scratches or rips.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight and heat, this will stop the leather drying out or fading.
- Avoid using chemical cleaning products like soap.

WOOD & VENEER

There’s nothing like a brand new wooden table but we all know how easy it is to tarnish especially when daily life gets in the way and the table is exposed to water, light and heat. Discover the best way to look after your wood and veneer furniture right here.

MAINTENANCE

Use coasters or placemats to protect your furniture from pesky tea and coffee rings. To protect your floor consider sticking felt pads underneath the feet of your seating.

CARE

Wipe up spills from your wooden furniture using a clean, damp cloth. Dry it immediately afterwards with a soft cloth. Clean with a dry, soft cloth only. Do not use chemical cleaning products.

TO AVOID

- Polish containing silicone as it can spoil the finish over time.
- Direct sunlight or heat which can stain or discolour the wood.
- Dragging furniture across the floor, it can damage the joints, legs and will scratch your beloved wooden or tiled floor.
- Make sure the feet on your chair or sofa are tightly fastened.

RUGS

There’s nothing like a brand new wooden table but we all know how easy it is to tarnish especially when daily life gets in the way and the table is exposed to water, light and heat. Discover the best way to look after your wood and veneer furniture right here.

MAINTENANCE

- Vacuum both sides of the rug regularly to keep it dust-free.
- Remove the rug occasionally to vacuum the floor underneath.
- Take your rug outside and gently beat it to loosen dirt trapped between the fibres. Try not to get too carried away here.

CARE

- Before cleaning, check the care label first.
- If you’d like to store your rug until the next season, have it professionally cleaned and wrapped before storing in a climate-controlled area to avoid damage.
- Send your rug to the dry-cleaner to be professionally cleaned if there are any spills.
- Test spot cleaning on a small part of the rug first, as it may result in colour bleeding.
- If you have a pet, it’s likely that their fur will collect on your rug, if it does make sure to brush it vigorously with a clothes brush to remove any build up.

TO AVOID

Keep your rug out of direct sunlight, to avoid colour fading.
