At Home With

A space designed not just to be admired, but to be lived in.
In our latest At Home With episode, we step inside The Foxes Maltings, the striking eco-home built by Giuliano Rapoz and Zara Findlay and featured on series 25 of Grand Designs.
For a home that has the "wow" factor, their vision was straightforward: create a space that feels comfortable and relaxed. Every part of The Foxes Maltings is purposeful whilst incorporating textures that embrace both Guiliano and Zara's heritage as well as their modernist style. So let's take a tour around The Foxes Maltings...

Set within the beautiful rolling landscape of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the substantial home is a contemporary reinterpretation of the historic malthouse that once stood on the site. Completed in 2024, the design replaces the original 17th-century structure with a long, linear form built from tumbled reclamation buff brick, corten steel, and expansive south-facing windows that flood the interiors with natural light.
Deeply connected to its surroundings, throughout the space, Giuliano and Zara have curated interiors that echo the home’s natural palette. Cult pieces sit comfortably against the home’s brick, steel, and timber finishes, bringing a touch of warmth and personality to the contemporary structure, through warm wood tones and hard-working materials that complement this relaxed, nature-led aesthetic. Here, we have Zara's peaceful sanctuary, utilising an otherwise empty bedroom corner, with the Lola Accent Chair and Medby Coffee Table.
"We wanted each space of the house to have its own personality. Our living room is very bright, light and open. The kitchen ‑ very dark and moody."
Zara Findlay
Industrial Modern and sculpted from soft faux leather and metal, the Presley displays strong structural design and comfort, all in one. This is style and functionality for your modern dining space.
Behind The Scenes
From the inside, out
"Our interior design style in three words? Earthy, Modern, Organic."
Giuliano's words certainly summarise The Foxes Maltings in a nutshell. When discussing their most rebellious design choice, Giuliano immediately references the use of corten steel - a "traditionally industrial modernist material" - and this material embodies the seamless blend of tradition and modern at The Foxes Maltings. It's these different textures and unconventional approach that create warmth and earthiness. When combined with the wood of the Ledbury Console Table, it's a striking pairing.
In this episode, Giuliano and Zara share the story behind the build and the importance of choosing furniture that feels both design-led and liveable. The result is a home that feels intentional and deeply personal; a space designed not just to be admired, but to be lived in. Explore The Foxes Maltings, and shop the pieces featured throughout the home to inspire your own space.
