THE CONCEPT
THE CONCEPT
Music has always shaped the way we feel within a space.
It was our aim to capture that same emotional resonance in this campaign, which centres around our new furniture collection. From the retro 70s soul of mid-century to the chilled electronica of contemporary modernism, music is intrinsically woven within our identities and, therefore, how we style our homes. “The Drop” is a play on words linked to both the release of new music and new furniture - we wanted to explore this connection: interiors as self-expression, furniture as atmosphere, design as soundtrack.
Cult on Location.
No Skips. No Stress.
Putting on your favourite record is an act of pausing - to stop, reflect, and recalibrate. Our furniture should be the same. Not merely functional, but transformative. To express this metaphor, the location had to convey the same sentimentality. Our chosen house - rich with 60s and 70s detailing - offered burgundy tiling and marble in the kitchen, dark wood wall panelling, and expansive arched windows that flooded the living space with natural light. Its post-modern character provided the perfect counterpoint to our new collection: nostalgic yet adaptable, expressive yet refined...with plenty of space to adapt and experiment.
Behind The Scenes
“I love doing photoshoots with Cult ‑ they’re so different and so unique. Their concepts are always based around something you wouldn’t traditionally see in an interiors brand.”
Benjamin Jordan, Videographer
Furniture owns the frame. Music sets the tempo.
Inspired by the 70s yet redefined for contemporary homes, The Drop Collection explores juxtaposition - brushed chrome meets supple velvets, textured boucle against metallic curves, tufted wool pairs with smooth walnut-stained wood. These contrasting textures are at the core of 70s Revival design, alongside functionality and relaxed living.
Materiality + Movement
Central to this concept, we wanted to tap into the idea of Analog Living - the conscious shift towards slowing down and finding pleasure in tactical rituals from reducing screen time, and journaling to listening to records rather than through streaming services. Through our protagonist's fluid movement, championing music in this retro format, and the soft, dappled lighting, the campaign captures a home that feels layered, lived-in, and deeply personable.
Not content with harking back to the 70s, we journeyed through the decades. The use of the fisheye lens is a thoughtful nod to 90s music videos, whilst the 80s moss green power suit (oversized shoulderpads gracefully avoided) are subtle cue to these time periods. Just as classic albums have a timeless quality, we used time travel to anchor our new collection of furniture.
Colour in Motion
Our colour choices were also key - retro but not outdated, lived-in but not tired. We wanted to use walnut-stained and brown pieces as the base colour that tied the whole set together. A classic retro-inspired hue, this provided cohesion and was perfect as a grounding colour with large focal pieces such as the Raphael Sideboard, Noelle Dining Table, and the speckled espresso brown Ivy Sofa. To complement this rich tone, we introduced an earthy colour palette of caramel browns and moss greens, including the Herman Chair and Wilbur Stool, with natural light accentuating the velvet's depth of colour - something a simple studio setting cannot always replicate. To offer contrast, we peppering in burgundys (the Valance and Alani Lighting, and Ophelia Dining Chair in Rust Red) and lighter hues such as natural travertine stone and taupe (Skylar Coffee Table and Brandon Floor Lamp) to lift and balance the overall palette.
With the furniture, model, and location working in perfect harmony, the stage was set for our most creative shoot to date. Watch our BTS video below...
